...And Pegasus Flies!

Ok, so maybe not so much. I have replaced the front and rear wheels, sprockets, and chain. Though she should be in tip-top shape, she seems to be having issues with the oil pump. Thus being the case, I will be taking my other bike, Midnight, for the Big Easy trip and working on Pegasus when I get back.

I have been working on the route plan, and from what I have so far I will be traveling through Texarkana Arkansas, De Queen, Louisiana, Red Chute Louisiana, into New Orleans Louisiana, down to Jean Lafitte Louisiana, back up through Lake Charles (to see a buddy), and back up along the Louisiana / Arkansas / Oklahoma border, back through McAlister Oklahoma, Okmulgee Oklahoma and back to Broken Arrow Oklahoma.

Tenitively, my departure date is Sunday, September 4th at 8:00 a.m. More details tomorrow.

Wish Me Luck, and keep the song submissions flowing :)

Progress Update...

Well, it's been a bit since I have updated everyone on the progress of the Pegasus (the new bike).

I found while examining the bike that the front sprocket had some teeth missing, the brakes needed changing, needed new tires, needed cluster lighting, and the seat had a weakened section that was making things a bit uncomfortable on the 'ol kiester. I have a 1998 GS500E that had a lot of the parts needed, and so the scavenging began.

I pulled both the front and rear wheels of the 98 and put them on the 91. I replaced the seat (which was originally white) with the seat from the parts bike (which is black). I replaced the chain, rear sprocket, brake pads and rear rotor on the 91 from those on the 98. Everything I tried fit great with the exception of the front sprocket...apparently Suzuki saw fit to extend the front shaft an extra 3 millimeters on the 98 models so that the sprockets were not inter-changeable. Luckily an aftermarket front sprocket for a 91 only runs about $16.00...it'll be here on Wednesday.

Once I have the new sprocket on, the chain from the 98 on and the slack removed, I will be in business. I will snap some pics of the bike on Wednesday when I go to complete this portion of the project and post them for your viewing pleasure.

All that will be left to do is add the farkles and finalize the plans for the trip to The Big Easy =)

Your song submissions are still needed =)

...and a second try it is!

Ok, so those of you who followed my first foray into Colorado, you saw the not so fantastic end to my inaugural run. It has taken a while, and much inner debate, but I have decided on an older bike to brand as my means of waywardness and lunacy.

I have purchased a 1990 Suzuki GS500E that will be fitted with luggage, wind screen, engine protection, and painted (thank god) to reflect the Playlist Pilot theme I am mulling over in my head. Here are a couple of pictures of said motorized transport in it's present state (though not in my garage yet). These are the pre-pimping pics to give you an idea of what she will look like.

In honor of the greek hero Perseus, I am naming this beauty "Pegasus". Like Perseus before me, Pegasus will carry me on adventures and be the beautiful means of travel to far off places. As the process of putting a shine on Pegasus progresses, I will update you all on the status...safe journey!
